Aloha! Representatives Scot Matayoshi and Lisa Kitagawa are sponsoring a Windward Community Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic on Saturday, October 24th from 9 am – 12 noon at Windward Community College. Times Pharmacy will be administering the flu shots to anyone 3 and older, and all major insurance carriers will be accepted. Those who would like a flu shot should bring their insurance card, including insurance cards for children, as well as their photo ID. The flu shot is $55 for those who do not have insurance, but most insurance plans cover all or nearly all of the cost. Please remember to wear your mask. This is an easy and safe way to get your flu vaccine. Please see the flyer for more information.

Prevent Flu This Fall and Winter

It’s likely that flu viruses and the virus that causes COVID-19 will both spread this fall and winter. Healthcare systems could be overwhelmed treating both patients with flu and patients with COVID-19. This means getting a flu vaccine during the 2020-2021 is more important than ever. While getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, there are many important benefits, such as: 1) flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death, and 2) getting a flu vaccine can also save healthcare resources for the care of patients with COVID-19.

Additional Insurance Information

Times Pharmacy contracts with all major insurance providers (HMA, HMAA, HMSA, Kaiser, UHA, TRICARE, PSWA, Hawaii Laborers Union, Medicare and Quest).  Most insurance providers cover the cost of the flu vaccine completely with $0 copay.  There are some cases where the vaccine wouldn’t be covered 100%.  Union insurances have a copay of up to 10% of the total cost of the flu vaccine.  Times will invoice the clinic participant if they do have a copay.  If the clinic participant’s insurance does not cover the flu vaccine, the cash price for the vaccine is $55.  Times will be providing regular flu vaccines at this clinic.
