Our Next Month’s Networking Luncheon: Tuesday March 25th, 2025

A Kane’ohe resident for 33 years, Jay Higa is  vice president-business development for Trade Media Hui, publishers of Kane’ohe Magazine.  Jay is responsible for managing the advertising team, sales strategies, and operations including product development.

A veteran of 40 years of sales and management experience, he started his advertising career as an account executive with MidWeek when their offices were on Luluku Road in Kane’ohe.  Jay rose thru the ranks as sales manager, retail and classified advertising director positions, and vice president-business development/regional sales for OPI, The Honolulu Advertiser and the Star-Advertiser.   At the Star-Advertiser, he was responsible for major accounts including managing the company’s largest customer, CVS Longs Drugs, new business development, overseeing the three neighbor island daily newspapers and visitor magazines,  digital network screens across statewide retail outlets, commercial printing and direct mail. 

Jay is a graduate of Damien Memorial School and holds a BSBA from the University of Denver.  He has been a member of several boards including the Hawai’i Food Industry Association, Retail Merchants of Hawai’i, and the Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawai’i.  He currently sits on the Business Advisory Board of Chaminade University’s School of Business and Communications.

KBG SUSHI SOCIAL RE-CAP 2024

The KBG members organized another successful event this year for the annual “Sushi Social” of 2024. We have a lot of “thank you’s” to give to everyone who contributed, as they do every year, to make this a fantastic yearly event. A big thanks to Superb Sushi Catering for their excellent service. A big thank you to Adriel Lam and his whole Family for hosting again at their home on “Christmas Lane” on Namoku Street . You have such a lovely home, we are grateful. Thank you to the members who helped and brought their culinary specialties and helped set up. Everyone said they had a wonderful time talking story with old friends while meeting new friends and their families.
